IRON CHEF CONTEST

The buzz was high, the anticipation palpable, and the crowd hushed as the first Learning Center Iron Chef Showcase began. 27 pieces were submitted, narrowed to seven finalists by our screening panel, cast to an open vote by the audience to elect one Iron Chef. We were amazed by the turnout for the event (not to mention the quality of the pieces!) but after all, we were giving away a 20GB iPod.

The dishes premiered and the ballots collected, the finalists were revealed while the votes were tallied. Each chef explained their composition process, sample and software usage, and answered questions.

Afterward, with eager suspense the chefs listened to the results of the contest. We are pleased to announce Jordan Weiner as the 1st Learning Center Iron Chef! Of the contest Weiner said, "I really enjoyed doing it, it was a lot of fun", continuing to say of the other chefs, "everybody had really cool stuff." When asked if he thought he would have won, Weiner responded, "I definitely had something different", as WeinerÕs rap-like musings of life in the Learning Center (click the link below to listen) competed with six instrumentals. In recognition of the democratic process Weiner said, "Thanks to everyone who voted for me!"
