Add another chapter in the books for the Learning Center contest series. The Fall 2008 Sound Collage Contest was a great success!
Emceed by Director of Learning Support Services Pablo Vargas, the showcase event featured a premiere of each of the seven finalists' pieces, and a brief talk and Q&A from the seven. Pablo explained the contest concept to the audience, that each contestant composed a piece of music based around audio samples we recorded and provided them, and introduced our screening panel that picked the seven finalists from all 34 entries. The finalists were handed off to our official judging panel, which this year included Ableton Product Specialist Huston Singletary, Berklee MP&E faculty Prince Charles Alexander, Assistant Vice President of Curiculum Jeanine Cowen, and Berklee music synthesis alum Ben Cantil.
The new winner Francesco Martinez, took the grand prize, a copy of Ableton Suite. Enrico de Trizio won 2nd place and received a copy of Ableton Live, and Andrew Picha got the Ableton Live LE 3rd place prize.
Special thanks to Scott Mabuchi and the MP&E department for granting us studio time to record the Sound Collage Contest samples, and a very special thanks to Dave Hill, Huston Singletary and the folks at Ableton for sponsoring the contest, and providing the three copies of Live for our prizes
We have a WINNER!
