3. How do I sign up for a Computer Tutoring Session?
Come to the LC main office with your ID and schedule. Students should attend
a Training Session for the given software before signing up for a tutor.

4. How do I sign up for a Music Tutoring session?
Students please go to Christy Mathew at office room# 284 (At the end of the Learning Center's hallway). Sign up hours are from Monday to Friday, 10am - 12pm, 2pm - 4pm.

5. Can I print documents in the LC?
Yes, but multiple copies are not allowed, along with flyers, in the
Main Lab and the Media Lab.

6. How do I print from my Laptop in school?
Laptop printing is available in the Media Lab. There are 6 laptop stations
in the lab with
instructions on how to print from laptops. In the Main Lab, direct printing from laptops are not available.
However, you may transfer files from your laptop to the Main Lab's G5 computer through "target mode" (See below),
a portable memory drive, or internet, and print from the G5.
Target mode: Hold the "T" key while restarting your laptop. When you see a firewire sign on a blue screen, plug in the firewire cable from the station and your laptop hard drive will show up on the G5.

Login to my.berklee.net. Click on the "services" tab and follow the instructions.

8. Where do I see the downloaded file on the computer?
All downloaded and saved files are on the Desktop or in the Document folder
located in the Student home directory.

9. Can I record live instruments here in the LC?
Yes. You can plug your electric insturment into the Edirol audio interface to use with any sequencer.

10. Can I burn Audio or data CDs in LC? And How?
Yes. Students will need to use iTunes for audio CD burning.
For data CD burning, just drag files to your blank CD icon
on the desktop and eject the disk. The computer will ask you
to burn the disk when you eject it.

11. How can I transfer files using the LC student server? And how does it work?
The Student Server icon is located in the dock on the bottom of the screen. After you
click on the icon, click OK on the pop up window. The username is "transfer" and you do not need a password.

12. Can I use a station if I do not have my Berklee ID with me?
Yes, as long as you are registered, you can use a station 2 times each semester without your ID.
Pro art students and Alumni need to bring their ID (or an effective Alumni Pass) in order to use the Learning Center facilities.

13. Can I record from mini disk to a cassette tape?
Yes, there are audio dubbing stations available in the Learning Center.
Students can record between mini disk, cassette and DAT tapes.

No, due to copyright laws students cannot burn commercial CDs.

15. How do I change tempo, and meters in DP5?
-Go to the PROJECT window.
-Select MODIFY CONDUCTOR TRACK.
-Select CHANGE METER, or CHANGE TEMPO.

17. How do I open a Quicktime video in DP5?
-Select the PROJECT window.
-Go down to MOVIE.
-A window will pop up asking you to locate the video.
-Just go to where ever you saved it, and select it.
-Make sure you set the movie start time in quictime, as well as the start time
of the sequence.

18. How do I add MIDI, and audio tracks in DP5?
-To add audio tracks, first you must activate the
MOTU AUDIO SYSTEM as previously discussed.
-Next, select the PROJECT window.
-Click ADD TRACKS.
-Select MIDI, or AUDIO TRACKS. (Remember, only stations 2-5 have audio
capabilities)

-Make sure the Triton is set to SEQ mode, not COMBI, PROG, SAMPLING, S.PLAY,

20. Can I edit notation in DP5?
Yes, but most people save their DP5 files as standard midi format, and
open it in Finale. Finale is a notation program and DP5 is for sequencing.

21. How do I put effects on audio tracks with DP5?
- First, convert your MIDI tracks to AUDIO tracks
- Open the mixer window
- On the top of the AUDIO track you are working with, you will see a
few rectangular windows with triangle buttons
- Click on the triangle buttons and you will be able to see a list of effects.

- First, create an AUDIO track
- Select both input and output of the AUDIO track to Build-in 1-2
- Record enable the AUDIO track, and make sure the input volume is set to an appropriate level

- Open DP5 first, and wait until it is completely loaded
- Open Reason
- Click back on DP5
- Select one of the MIDI tracks, and set the input of that track to reason
- Repeat this process for as many reason tracks as you like

24. Why am I getting the wrong sounds during playback in Finale?
-First make sure the Triton is set to SEQ mode.
-Next, make sure the MIDI is setup Properly in Finale. Select the MIDI
menu.
-Select MIDI SETUP.
-Go to MIDI SYSTEM, Select FREE MIDI Under input device
-Make sure TRITON is selected. If it is italicized (Triton) reselect TRITON
until it is in solid print.
-Select WINDOW. Go to Instrument List.
-Under the column “B”, click the square regardless of what
it says.
-The Instrument Definition window will appear.
-Make sure the “channel”, is set to the corresponding channel
that the instrument in Question is set to.
-Select the Free MIDI box, and make sure it says Triton, again matching
the channel with the proper instrument. Push OK.

25. How do I get slash notation in Finale?
You may:
- First Select “Staff Tool”
- Then select the measure(s) you want to change
- Ctrl+Click or Right click
- Select Slash Notation
or
- Select the “Staff Tool”
- Next, double click the first measure.
- In the Staff Attributes window, click on the second Select.(under Alternate
Notation)
- The Alternate Notation window will Appear.
- Click the Slash Notation bubble.
- Press OK.

-Select the “Mass Edit Tool”;.

- Type a name for the new playlist. This name will be the title of your CD.
- Drag the file that's created from GarageBand to the playlist you just created.
- In the top right corner of iTunes, click “Burn Disk” and follow the instructions in iTunes.
