Film Scoring Contest 7 Kickoff presented by George S. Clinton and Dan Carlin
Film Scoring Contest 7 has begun! Special guests George S. Clinton (award winning composer of the Austin Powers films) and Dan Carlin (Film Scoring Department Chair) discussed the aesthetics of film scores and music as a story telling device in regards to this year's contest film, Mei Mei's Birthday, directed by Uta Arning, NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia. With questions ranging from thematic development to instrumentation choices, George drew from his experience to discuss possible ways to approach scoring. After George and Dan left for a dinner as part of the BMI day events, Learning Center Training Coordinator Chris Fitzgerald discussed the logistics of the contest, support available and how to participate.
